In our Primary classrooms, children learn by doing. The prepared environment is rich with materials that build and strengthen: independence, order and concentration. The Primary students work at an individual pace moving from concrete to abstract work.
The Montessori materials and prepared environment encourage exploration and foster growth of the whole child: physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual. Our classrooms, for our three to six year old students, are divided into areas of: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math and Cultural studies.

Practical Life: This area builds concentration, develops a sense of order and strengthens fine motor development through meaningful and inviting work.
Sensorial: In our Sensorial area, children learn through their senses. They build knowledge of color, dimension, sound, visual and textural differences through order and classification, all while developing strong observational skills.
Language: This includes areas of oral and written language development. Strong phonetic based materials build skills from learning sounds to reading and introductions to grammar and sentence structure.
Mathematics: The materials in our mathematics area solidify concepts through hands on materials. The children build an understanding of one to one correspondence, sequencing, quantity, decimal system, number recognition and mathematical operations. As with all areas, math work progresses, naturally, from concrete to abstract at the child’s individual pace.
Cultural: Our cultural area is full of materials in geography, history, botany and zoology. This area allows the child a window to the whole world while nurturing the whole child.
